The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) enables access to quality skills, training, and employment to support Australians find secure work in fair, productive and safe workplaces – supporting individuals, businesses and our nation to prosper. The department is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to meet emerging needs of the department and business areas.
Key duties and responsibilities
As a Business Analyst, you will be required to:
- Work closely with business and system users to map business processes for the purpose of understanding business domain problems.
- Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and cost estimation.
- Analyse and communicate business solution options.
- Work with pre-delivery teams to identify viable solutions.
- Write functional requirements along with acceptance criteria.
- Create and manage User Stories and other DevOps Work Items.
- Provide sufficient business details to delivery teams to deliver viable solutions.
- Work closely with the product and technical teams to ensure clarity of communication and understanding.
- Use industry and departmental standards to develop artefacts for decision making, requirements, business rules, data requirements, system functional and non-functional requirements.
Essential criteria
1.Demonstrated experience working in an enterprise-class environment with business and technology areas undertaking business analysis activities through the entire SDLC, including producing business-focused documentation and technology-focussed documentation.
2.Demonstrated experience working in an agile delivery team developing artefacts such as business process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria, wireframes and/or prototypes using DevOps toolsets to manage and allocate work.
3.Experience coordinating and leading consultation with internal and external stakeholders to elicit requirements and to share-back analysis and distillation of the requirements, and to coordinate user review and acceptance activities.
4.Some experience using technologies such as SQL queries, MS Excel, and or Power BI for the purposes of business analysis.
Desirable criteria
1.Previous experience in a Government Agency is desired, including the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
Full Time Requirement: Onsite, standard 8 hours per day, and 40 hours per week in total. On site at least 3 days a week. Flexible Working Arrangements (including remote working arrangements): Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis against the business requirements of the department and the needs of the immediate work area. Reduced Activity Period – A reduced activity period may apply where the specified personnel will not work unless the buyer has provided pre-approval in writing.
