System Administrators undertake ICT System Administration governance and compliance ensuring that all support to enterprise hardware and service capabilities, for ongoing resilience and serviceability of existing systems, through specialist system administration and incident management processes of core Oracle hosting platforms is aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
This is a technical delivery position based in Canberra. As a technical member within the organisation, the primary focus of the role is to be responsible for providing proactive support services for complex ICT infrastructure and assuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
The technical specialist is expected to be highly skilled in solving complex critical customer issues. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and a proven capability to build effective relationships with technical resources and management. They are expected to work with a high level of autonomy while reporting to management on infrastructure status and technical matters on a regular basis.
Candidates must be willing to undergo ASD’s Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA).
Candidates must have Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Security Clearance.
ASD will not sponsor candidates to upgrade their security clearances in order to apply for the role.

Technical skills
• Security architecture, security and risk management, communication and network security and/or security operations domain administration. • Ensuring technical systems adhere to Essential Eight, ISM, and PSPF frameworks.

The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances our national interests through the provision of foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.
Essential criteria
1.Demonstrated 3 – 5 years’ experience in Information Communications Technology or aligned tertiary Specialisation.
2.Demonstrated experience and broad range of skills across a range of hardware, software, networking and IT infrastructure.
3.Demonstrated knowledge and applied experience of skills across Oracle infrastructure, Linux / Unix systems and infrastructure.
4.Proven experience with network protocols and technologies in order to troubleshoot network connectivity and routing issues.
5.Demonstrated experience in the provision of complex enterprise infrastructure. Investigate, analyse, troubleshoot and rectify problems across IT infrastructure, and diagnose systems problems in a multi-vendor environment.
6.Demonstrated experience in complex planning and contributing to multi-vendor installations of hardware, Linux / Unix systems and ongoing software and firmware upgrades and compliance of quality standards.
Required criteria
1.Bachelor’s or higher degree in Information Communications Technology or aligned tertiary specialisation.
2.Experience managing complex projects and ICT infrastructure environments.
3.Broad experience with ICT enterprise infrastructure and operating systems (Linux / Unix, preferred).
4.Experience with database administration (including backup and recovery).
