About the team
Questacon is Australia’s National Science & Technology Centre. We harness imagination and wonderment to make science fun and relevant for all. Our vision is for a better future for all Australians through engagement with science, technology, and innovation.
The Questacon IT team is responsible for managing and maintaining Questacon’s IT infrastructure, including its network and server systems, storage and backup systems, endpoints, and business applications.
The opportunity
This role provides an exciting opportunity to work across a wide range of technologies that support Questacon’s core business functions. You will play a key role in managing the technology required for the successful operations at Questacon’s Centres, with a strong focus on administering the Salesforce system.

We are looking for an experienced Salesforce Administrator who:
- Possesses extensive experience with Salesforce administration, including user management, role assignments, and permissions.
- Demonstrates proficiency in customising Salesforce features, including objects, fields, page layouts, and workflows, to meet business needs.
- Has a strong understanding of Salesforce best practices for data management and security, ensuring compliance and data integrity.
- Has strong analytical/technical problem-solving skills.
- Works independently with minimal supervision and responds in high pressure situations with good judgement and a high level of discretion.
- Contributes to developing better ways of working whilst fostering a harmonious work environment.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of the organisation.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Administer the Salesforce system by managing user access, roles, and permissions; configuring objects, fields, and workflows; and ensuring data integrity through regular audits and updates.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for Salesforce customisation and enhancements, ensuring the system meets the needs of the organisation.
- Create complex reports and dashboards within Salesforce to track key business metrics and provide actionable insights.
- Participate in code reviews and promote best practices for efficient and scalable Salesforce development.
- Manage sandboxes, including creation, refresh, and access management and conduct regular system audits and monitor platform performance.
- Develop and implement reports and dashboards to provide insights and support decision-making.
- Develop and enforce best practices for system integration and maintenance.
- Provide training and ongoing support to Salesforce users across the organisation, ensuring optimal use of Salesforce features and can effectively utilise the systems.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to Salesforce functionality.
- Coordinate with IT teams to integrate Salesforce with other systems and applications.
- Stay updated on Salesforce releases and features to leverage new capabilities that benefit the organisation.
- Maintain thorough documentation of configurations, customisations, and processes related to Salesforce management.
- Enforce IT policies related to security, usage, and access controls, ensuring compliance with the PSPF and organisational policies.Contribute to incident response efforts during system outages or security incidents, investigating and resolving complex technical issues.
About the project
The project for implementing Salesforce at Questacon is entering the build phase as of November 2024. Salesforce, being branded as “QHub”, is replacing several of Questacon’s business applications, and will become its core business system. The Salesforce Administrator will be working closely with Questacon’s QHub project team and external implementation partner for a few months prior to go live.

Essential criteria
1. Demonstrates proficiency in customising Salesforce features, including objects, fields, page layouts, and workflows, to meet business needs.
2. Experience is Salesforce administration, including Sales, Service, CRM Analytics, Maps, Marketing Cloud, Experience Cloud.
3. Hands-on experience in managing Salesforce related CI/CD processes.
4. Salesforce product knowledge, and a strong understanding of Salesforce sharing and security.
5. Excellent communications and negotiation skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and proficiency in aligning multiple stakeholders for effective collaboration.
Desirable criteria
1. Strong understanding of Scrum/Agile methodologies.
2. Certified Salesforce Administrator.
3. Experience with Veevart administration.
4. Understanding of Australian Government standards, including accessible design and development and user experience led approaches will be highly regarded.
