SFIA 4 Performance Test Analyst
A SFIA 4 Test Analyst leads a team to test the function and interfaces of the systems which make
up the Department’s core business processing systems. They prepare, estimate, manage and
review technical testing documentation, ensuring relevant strategies and plans follow best
practices and management of risks are considered. They provide leadership support and training
on technical testing processes and work closely with other test analysts to achieve testing
outcomes.
A SFIA 4 Test Analyst works in an agile/iterative environment and undertakes specialist or technical
research and analysis activities. They identify opportunities for automation within software
processes, using scripts that test functionality through analysis, test preparation, test execution,
defect management, and technical troubleshooting activities.
They communicate across a range of media types, using various styles to suit different audiences
and understand and embrace the agency’s various ways of working and are agile in their approach
for collaboration and delivery of services.

Qualifications:

Mandatory:

  • ISTQB Foundation or equivalent certification
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst or equivalent certification

    Desirable certification or relevant practical experience:
  • ISTQB Certified Tester – Performance Testing
  • ISTQB Foundation Agile Extension
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Agile Technical Tester
  • ISTQB Foundation Level Mobile Application Testing
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer
  • ISTQB Advanced Test Manager
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD practices

Mandatory:

Demonstrated experience (6+ years) in Performance testing, including

  • Full test life cycle – requirements review and analysis, performance script preparation, test
    execution and incident management
  • Performance testing methodologies, development of detailed test plans and application
    simulation models
  • Performance analysis and monitoring using different techniques and technologies
  • Expertise in technical implementations and issues across performance
  • Use of performance testing tools – LoadRunner, Micro Focus ALM
  • Script Development in any of the following protocols – CITRIX/VDI, Web (HTTP/HTML), Web
    Services, Siebel, Java, Mobile, SQL
  • Effort and schedule estimation experience for projects
  • Azure DevOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Software development methodologies – Waterfall, Agile, hybrid
  • Ability to communicate and co-ordinate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in training and knowledge transfer

A SFIA 4 employee would generally be required to undertake work that is complex in nature, work
under limited direction with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability.

Employees at this level exercise both initiative and judgment in the interpretation of policy and in
the application of practices and procedures.
SFIA 4 employees provide detailed technical, professional, and/or policy advice in relation to
complex problems and may assist in strategic planning, program and project management and
policy development. Employees may have a considerable level of public contact in relation to
difficult or sensitive issues and may liaise with a range of stakeholders in a representational role.
Work may involve management responsibilities requiring the setting of priorities and managing
workflows.

Required services include, but are not limited to, the following

  1. Create long term strategy for performance testing including approach that focuses on
    leveraging automation scripts for performance testing using the department’s performance
    test tools (ie LoadRunner)
  2. Contribute to strategy to address how performance testing will be integrated within scaled
    agile sprints
  3. Provide recommendations towards performance monitoring tools
  4. Support existing performance test team with the scripting, execution and reporting of release
    performance test
  5. Draft project change risk assessments based on current and future systems
  6. Create detailed test plans including application simulation models and test run schedules
  7. Prepare, develop and execute test scripts and scenarios via LoadRunner
  8. Undertake detailed performance analysis in a multi technology and platform environment
  9. Review, assess and communicate risks
  10. Test reporting and analysing application performance
  11. Work within Agile teams and autonomously with strong analytical and negotiation skills
    Specified Personnel will be required to produce the following documentation within project
    timeframes:
  • Test scripts and defect register
  • Test progress reports
  • Test summary plans
  • Detailed test plans
  • Other documentation as requested
