The Server and Storage Section within the Infrastructure and Operational Support Branch of DFAT’s Information Management and Technology Division has a requirement for up to (2x) ICT labour hire resources to fill the role of Backup and Storage Server Engineer.
The role will involve the delivery of critical work in the Server and Storage section, and will include the refresh of ageing infrastructure and will provide the opportunity to work with automated deployments across a range of products including, Windows Server, VMware and Nutanix in a virtualised environment. We also currently run a range of Commvault and Dell storage products, however are looking to modernise and refresh this platform.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Undertake technical deliverables as a recognised senior specialist.
- Implement and support existing Commvault, Dell Data Protection and Apex Druva solutions.
- Assist with projects to support contemporary backup and data protection solutions.
- Implement and support Microsoft Server solutions and designs.
- Implement and support virtualised server environments across a global network.
- Provide end to end technical solutions.
- Assist with system changes, updates, upgrades and relocations.
- Compile technical documentation.
- High level communication skills.
- Ability to analyse and resolve complex enterprise system hardware and software problems.
- Interface with peer teams and vendors to coordinate solutions.
- Strong coordination and organisational skills with a high attention to detail.

- Delivery and Operation / Technology Management / IT Infrastructure (ITOP) – Level 5
Essential criteria
1.• Demonstrated experience in managing a complex Backup and Storage environment.
2.• Demonstrated experience in managing cloud backup solutions.
3.• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server versions up to and including Server 2022 in an enterprise environment.
4.• Virtualisation technologies including both VMware and Nutanix technologies.
5.• NV2 clearance is a mandatory requirement.
Desirable criteria
1.• Experience working in teams to produce quality outcomes.
2.• The ability to translate technical information to those with a non-technical background.
